My interests for animation and storytelling have been around with me ever since I've started drawing characters in my notebooks. Even back in middle school, I would use an analogue video camera to create crude stop motion movies with various action figures and toys in my living room. My influences have ranged everywhere from Don Bluth films to the Nicktoons of Rocko’s Modern Life and The Angry Beavers. I’ve always been attracted to character driven pieces that were fueled by outlandish situations that really made you look at something from a different perspective.
With each work, I’ve been expanding my concepts and growing more ambitious with every project. After graduating from my junior college's animation program, I began working on a film funded by a student grant, and I was able to continue the pursuit of my career at California College of the Arts. Through the process of completing my degree, I've gained an understanding of what I want to pursue in the field of animation. Since graduating, I've taken on new project opportunities from local and remote businesses while creating my own with other classmates that have really helped round out my proficiency in the field.
Through projects like my student grant film, my web series, and my collaborations with remote studios, I've learned how to approach projects from both positions of leadership and team coordination. Each group project helps me see each new project in new and unique ways, and I always strive to top myself with each assignment.
Overall, animation has been an immensely rewarding field. Through storytelling, character interaction, and teamwork, I can’t wait to see what’s next, and I look forward to seeing how I can help bring my and other people's ideas to life.
